During his 16 year professional soccer career, Emil Dragicevic has starred in over 500
outdoor and 200 indoor games. In 1978, at the age of 18, he became one of the
youngest players to join the professional soccer league.
Emil played for the
Croatian soccer club Dinamo, one of the oldest soccer clubs in Europe. Since the
club's inception in 1945, it has become one of the most accomplished soccer clubs of the
former Yugoslavia, winning many different trophies throughout Europe and Australia,
including the 1982 Yugoslavian Championship and 1983 Yugoslavian Cup. Emil went on
to become a player for the Sydney Olympic Soccer Team, acquiring the titles of
Championship Winner twice, National Cup Winner twice, and leading soccer once. Many
of Emil's former teammates, and past coaches, were on the Croatian National Team which won
3rd place in World Cup 1998!
When Emil came to the United States, he refined his skills from outdoor to indoor
soccer. Knowing no obstacles, he learned to excel in all positions of the sport.
Emil Dragicevic has played for the St. Louis Storm (MLS), the Baltimore Blast
(NPSL), and the Phoenix Sand Sharks (CISL).
Emil hold's a special place in his heart for the Croatian Nation Team. Emil's
coach, when he played for Dinamo, was the coach for the 1998 Croatian Nation Team at World
Cup '98.
At Word Cup
'98, Croatia's Davor Suker wins the arguably most prestigious of the FIFA awards, the
Golden Shoe. He scored a goal in six of Croatia's seven matches, thus beating Gabriel
Batistuta (ARG) and Christian Vieri (ITA) who scored five goals each. Only against
Argentina, Suker who is on the books of Real Madrid failed to get his customary goal. Photo
